How We Got Started
"Hey you wrestled, you wanna go box in the park?"
Matt glanced at Logan, a mix of confusion and excitement flickering across his face as he replied, "Yeah, why not?" It was back in 2010, just after their high school graduation. With the UFC gaining momentum, the prospect of boxing outdoors seemed far more appealing than simply tossing a ball around.
It might seem like an unconventional start, but anyone acquainted with combat sports understands the near unbreakable bonds forged through the shared pursuit of pummeling each other.
Coach Logan and Coach Matt began their training routines independently, meeting weekly in the park for boxing sessions. With each passing week, they witnessed improvements, yet they both recognized the need for more structured training to expedite their progress. Despite temporarily halting their sparring sessions, they maintained accountability by discussing their individual training regimens. About a month later, they sparred to assess their progress. The following day, Logan joined Reign Training Center.
Matt wrestled in high school, while Logan preferred striking at first. Despite their different disciplines, they shared a common goal: mastery of all facets of combat sports.
Unbeknownst to them, Matt and Logan were pioneering mixed martial arts training in its early stages, inadvertently excelling ahead of their time. They grasped the importance of technique, yet also acknowledged the significance of strength and conditioning.
As training methods evolved alongside the growing popularity of MMA, Matt and Logan found themselves experimenting with various training modalities, committing to multiple daily sessions, regular strength training, and consistent cardiovascular workouts.
Unfortunately, injuries sidelined both Logan and Matt, prompting visits to physical therapists, chiropractors, and massage therapists. While these professionals provided temporary relief, returning to full training capacity remained elusive.
Recognizing the challenges they faced in their own recoveries, Matt and Logan pursued certifications through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and delved into supplementary research to better comprehend rehabilitation strategies.
Their journey led them to transition into personal training, where they applied their newfound knowledge to not only overcome their own setbacks but also assist others in achieving their fitness goals. Coaching and empowering individuals to reach their potential became their newfound passion, culminating in the birth of Stronyx Fitness.
